Chronic Pain Congress 2022 – October 21st – 22nd 2022

In February this year I was approached by Goretti Aramburu, a member of the organizing committee of the above Congress, to attend, as a guest of honour, to acknowledge the impact Louis’ books and teachings have had on Spanish Physiotherapists.

I was very honoured to be asked. Megan Henwood (Louis’ singer/songwriter niece who wrote ‘Painkiller’ for Louis) is accompanying me and we are looking forward to our trip. Megan has been invited to perform.

The Congress is a memorial to Miguel Angel Gallon, who died recently. I did not know Miguel, but I have read the beautiful tribute to him by his wife M. Carmen Coca (and physio).

I will be forever grateful to this good group of Physiotherapists for their generosity and thoughtfulness by including Louis in their programme.

Thank you

Every October 17th, since 2004, the World Day Against Pain is celebrated internationally, an initiative of the World Health Organization.

On December 13, 2021, the Unit of Active Coping Strategies for Pain was inaugurated while paying tribute to Miguel Angel Galán, who was, together with Fede Montero, responsible for the research and implementation of this unit.

The unit is a pioneering unit in the national health system. As a first approach from Primary Care, for patients with persistent pain, we work from education in neurobiology of pain and movement. We want to make known to the city of Valladolid, this hopeful approach to chronic pain, a problem that affects one in five people. We are determined to organize a “Week against Pain” from October 17 to 23, 2022 to make this approach known
